Ghost of Timor

Ghost of Timor tells the story of reunited Australian lovers Christian and Alison. After a brief but torrid affair in their youth, they go their own ways only to meet again years later following Christian’s rediscovery of Alison’s old love letters. As her marriage is spiralling toward divorce, Alison takes a chance and agrees to meet Christian. They fall into each other’s arms and reignite their passionate affair. 

In between bouts of lovemaking, Alison asks Christian to fill her in on the years since they last met. Christian then begins the tale of his life, starting with their breakup and his travel to East Timor during the height of the 1999 independence crisis. 

As Alison listens, she harkens for the life of adventure she sought in her youth, wishing that she had lived a little more before she focused on her career. Yet Alison is shocked when Christian reveals the darker side of his time in Timor that challenges her own sense of morality. 

Confronted with the consequences of their breakup, Christian challenges Alison to put aside her preconceptions and embrace her freedom. She vows to listen to her heart and commits to seeing him despite a nagging doubt he has not revealed all his secrets. 

Ghost of Timor is followed by three novels: Tampa Gold, Patagonian Affair and the Cryptic Liaison. In each story, Christian reveals more of his adventurous life, as Alison sets aside her own repression while trying to uncover the secret to Christian’s uncanny success.
