a warm hug with Library of Heartbeats

The Library of Heartbeats by Laura Imai Messina

We love Laura Imai Messina's books. We loved The Phone Box At The End of The World and we equally love The Library of Heatbeats. Translated to English by Lucy Rand. This book is a wonderful emotional and breathtaking read that was our Fiction book of the month for April Mystery Booxies.

To find what you have lost, you must listen to your heart . . .

On the peaceful Japanese island of Teshima there is a library of heartbeats, a place where the heartbeats of visitors from all around the world are collected. In this small, isolated building, the heartbeats of people who are still alive or have already passed away continue to echo.

Several miles away, in the ancient city of Kamakura, two lonely souls meet: Shuichi, a forty-year-old illustrator, who returns to his home-town to fix up the house of his recently deceased mother, and eight-year-old Kenta, a child who wanders like a shadow around Shuichi's house.

Welcome to The Hyunam- Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo- Reum

We enjoyed every minute and every page of Welcome to The Hyunam - Dong Bookshop. Set in Korea and translated into English by Shanna Tan. This book is a much needed warm hug this winter. it is uplifting read that will bring you comfort and joy.

There was only one thing on her mind.

'I must start a bookshop.'

Yeongju did everything she was supposed to, go to university, marry a decent man, get a respectable job. Then it all fell apart. Burned out, Yeongju abandons her old life, quits her high-flying career, and follows her dream. She opens a bookshop.

In a quaint neighbourhood in Seoul, surrounded by books, Yeongju and her customers take refuge. From the lonely barista to the unhappily married coffee roaster, and the writer who sees something special in Yeongju - they all have disappointments in their past. The Hyunam-dong Bookshop becomes the place where they all learn how to truly live.

A heart-warming story about finding comfort and acceptance in your life – and the healing power of books.

All the Beautiful Things You Love by Jonathan Seidler

This book is a sweet warm and fun read. we enjoyed every page of it and couldn't put it down. it is a vibrant exploration of the things that bring us together and tear us apart, and those keepsakes that populate the wide open spaces between where love ends and starts again.

All The Beautiful Things You Love is our Fiction book of the month for June Mystery Booxies and we hope our bookish subscribers will love it as much as we have.

Elly and Enzo love each other. Elly and Enzo are breaking up. Now, everything must go. When Enzo suddenly walks out on Elly after ten years together, she finds herself marooned in an expensive East London flat, surrounded by all their belongings. She is shell-shocked. Inconsolable. She can't bear to look at the objects that she and Enzo collected together, those innocuous items that define the key moments of every relationship. Now she's listing it all on Marketplace: the table they found in Italy. The bike he bought for her birthday. Records, luggage, a vintage velvet couch. Anything that tells a story she'd rather forget. Elly thinks that selling these items to total strangers will help her move on from Enzo and heal her devastated heart. But she's about to get a lot more than she bargained for.

Funny Story by Emily Henry

Who doesn't love a book by the romcom queen Emily Henry? after the amazing success of Book Lovers and Happy Place, comes the newest kid on the block, Funny Story.

Daphne always loved the way Peter told their story.

That is until it became the prologue to his actual love story with his childhood bestie, Petra.

Which is how Daphne ends up rooming with her total opposite and the only person who could possibly understand her predicament- Petra's ex, Miles.

As expected, it's not a match made in heaven - that is until one night, while tossing back tequilas, they form a plan.

And if it involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their adventures together, well, who could blame them?

But it's all just for show, of course, because there's no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiance's new fiancee's ex . . . right?

Reeling from his wife's departure, increasingly reclusive, taking himself on long, solitary walks across the moors and fells.

When a persistent mutual friend and some very English weather conspire to bring them together, Marnie and Michael suddenly find themselves alone on the most epic of walks and on the precipice of a new friendship.

But can they survive the journey?

A new love story by beloved bestseller David Nicholls, You Are Here is a novel of first encounters, second chances and finding the way home.

Small Hours by Bobby Palmer

A cosy winter read at its best! Small Hours by the creative and talented Bobby Palmer, author of Isaac and The Egg was our Fiction book of the month for May Mystery Booxies.

This is a magical book about family, father and son, unspoken words, complex emotions and broken ties.

We thought it would be mission impossible to match the level of magic and emotion in Isaac and The Egg but we were so wrong.

If you stood before sunrise in this wild old place, looking through the trees into the garden, here's what you'd see:

A father and son, a fox standing between them.

Jack, home for the first time in years, still determined to be the opposite of his father.

Gerry, who would rather talk to animals than the angry man back under his roof.

Everything that follows is because of the fox, and because Jack's mother is missing. It spans generations of big dreams and lost time, unexpected connections and things falling apart, great wide worlds and the moments that define us.
