The "Gift Giver" Questions

- Can I send a Booxie as a one-off gift, or do I have to subscribe?

Yes, absolutely. While we love our community of subscribers, we offer a wide range of curated Booxies for those who want a one-off gift. You can select a theme, such as Read n’ Wine, Booked with Cocktails, or Gin, Tonic n’ Books. Choose a preferred genre, and let us do the rest.

For the ultimate personal touch, you can Build Your Own Booxie with as many books and Aussie-made products as you’d like. You can even purchase our monthly Mystery Subscription box as a one-off, which is a wonderful, affordable, and meaningful gift.

- Will the recipient see the price or an invoice?

No. We never include invoices in our gift boxes. To keep the surprise intact, please ensure you use your own email address when placing the order; this is where the order confirmation and pricing will be sent. You can also download a tax invoice directly from our store after purchase if you need a copy for your records.

Note: For international orders, we are required to state the items and their value on the shipping label for customs purposes.

- Can I add a personal message, and how is it presented?

We love this personal touch! We hand-write every single message on one of our eco-friendly, compostable, and recyclable cards to ensure your gift feels truly special.

- How do I choose the right "vibe" for someone else?

We offer a diverse range of genres, from General Fiction and Romance to Fantasy and Thrillers. If you aren't sure, you can always select "Choose for Me" and leave us a note about the recipient’s interests. Our curators will then hand-pick a book they’re sure to love.

- What happens if the recipient already has the book I selected for them?

This is a valid concern, but we have you covered. We offer a Book Replacement Guarantee to ensure your recipient can easily exchange their book for any other title of equivalent value from our collection by getting in touch with us at hello@booxies.com

The "Subscriber" Questions

- What happens if I already own the book in this month's box?

Because we focus on brand-new releases, the chances of a double-up are low—but it can happen! If you receive a book you already own, simply get in touch with us at hello@booxies.com and we will organise a speedy book swap for you.

- Is it easy to skip a month or cancel?

Yes. If you are on a Month-to-Month subscription, you can skip, pause, or cancel anytime through our online portal. For those on a prepaid or "locked-in" contract, you can still request to skip a month (perfect for when you're heading away on holiday) by reaching out to our team at hello@booxies.com

- What exactly is the "mystery" element?

The mystery is the best part! We don’t reveal the book or the treats in advance, so you get the joy of an unboxing surprise every month. You can subscribe to (or mix between) six different genres: General Fiction, Romance, Crime/Thriller, Fantasy/Romantasy, YA, and Non-Fiction/Memoir.

We also offer two types of subscriptions: one that includes premium alcohol and a "non-alc" version featuring other delicious Australian drinks.

- When will my box actually arrive?

We process subscription payments on the 15th of each month. We then begin the curation and packing process, with dispatch starting approximately on the 20th. You can expect your Mystery Booxies to arrive in the final days of the month or the very beginning of the next.

The "Value & Quality" Questions

- How are the books and treats selected?

We are proud supporters of small Australian businesses. We spend a ridiculous amount of time sourcing the best Aussie-made snacks, drinks, and wellness products to share with you. For our library, we champion Australian authors while also including incredible titles from around the world, including translated fiction.

- Is shipping included in the price?

For all subscription boxes (including Mystery Booxies), shipping is absolutely included. The price you see is the price you pay. For our Build Your Own and Curated one-off gift boxes, shipping is calculated at checkout based on the weight and destination.

- Are the books brand-new releases or classics?

We primarily feature brand-new releases to keep things exciting and to reduce the chance of you (or your gift recipient) already owning the book. While we adore the classics, they are a rare guest in our Booxies boxes!
